How to find flights to Cork

Cork is home to the third biggest airport in Ireland. Flights to Cork arrive mostly from the United Kingdom and continental Europe.

Cork International Airport (IATA: ORK) is located at about 8 km from the city center. The Irish national carrier Aer Lingus uses Cork as a second hub while Ryanair and Aer Arann also have a strong presence which means flights to Cork are available from any European destination.

Among the airlines flying into Cork we can list: Aer Arann, Aer Lingus, Air Southwest, bmibaby, Jet2.com, Ryanair, Sky Europe and WizzAir. With so many low-cost carriers flying into Cork, it’s quite easy to find a cheap ticket into the city. The charter airlines flying into the airport include: Air Europa, Austrian Airlines, Pegasus Airlines, Spanair and XL Airways.

Among the destinations covered by the airport, we can list: Alicante, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Belfast, Berlin, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Dublin, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds/Bradford, Liverpool, London, Malaga, Manchester, Munich, Nice, Paris, Plymouth, Prague, Rome and Southampton. A number of new destinations are scheduled to start operating in 2008, including flights to Plymouth and Jersey.

Due to its location the airport can suffer from severe fog and low clods which lead to relays and diversions, generally on Dublin or Shannon airports.

Internet access, shops, restaurants and a bureau de exchange service are all available for the passengers after the security screening area.

There are plenty of buses connecting the airport to the city and taxis are also available. Because the airport is located so close to the city, there isn’t a railway service available.
